Bikram goes Roman

Bikram Yoga has arrived, at last, in Rome! Via Aurelia 190!

Update: We’ve taken our first class! It’s bilingual, the owners are an Italian/American couple, and very friendly and laid-back.

The price of this friendliness and laid-backness however is that the place itself is not exactly designer chic. We can live with that. The studio is kind of small, but providing classes stay small, that’s just fine too; more personal attention.

Our criticism, and we could be getting Bikram Yoga Roma into trouble here with Mr Choudhoury himself, is that the temperature is not really 40 degrees Celsius. More like 35.

Hotter please.

For any yogi’s out there, Mark Blanchard is coming over from LA to Rome to do a Progressive Power Yoga workshop this weekend - 3,4,5th March. More info from Ego Yoga: http://www.egoyoga.com.

I asked them about the heat and they said it is indeed the appropriate temperature but less humid than other studios.

Corrections. It’s not owned by an Italian/American couple, but by two friendly and helpful partners, one Italian, one Swedish. Quite often the number of English speakers in class equals or exceeds the number of Italian speakers, and these classes are conducted bilingually; first set in Italian, second in English.

I haven’t mentioned that the first class is free. They have towels, water and mats there, each available for 1euro.

I for one am very grateful indeed for this place’s existence.

I go all the time and it is definitely between 40-42 degrees (the thermometer is quite visible).  The humidity does vary but thats to be expected.
